hey guys Im buying a laptop any suggestions? really all Im looking for is a good laptop for University thats good for video editing (not a mac).

Good at movie editing and not a mac is a oxymoron
Macs are designed for media

Well, do you want my help? Because I do build computerse my good man. I would say get something with a warranty and good security features first off, as you will be on campus and those are just bonus. For video editing, you may want to use a vista operating system or better because they both work great. What is your price range? Macs are great for media, but if you want to game and do other things on them and if you are on a budget, DO NOT get one.

I believe so, it would cost alot though, you would be better off making a desktop to game with instead of making a gaming mac.

well, i dont suggest mac, but i wouldnt shut down the idea.....they are awefully expensive

personally, i would AVOID vista. just srsly, just avoid it.
i think for video editing you would need 2+gb ram, largish hard drive, and multi core processing. id just scan ads until i found a laptop that fit those reqs

ehhh
i havent tried it out....but i wouldnt buy a new comp with s brand new OS for hardcore video editing.
i would go XP....best OS to date

Windows 7 > XP > Vista

but 7 is still in beta so for the moment, go XP for sure Smile

I havent tried mac's yet though, something I really want to do

i have my doubts about 7...i really want it to succeed.....but im a stubborn old man...i prefer the beast i know vs the beast i dont know. XP is amazing....so im hoping 7 will exceed my expectations

7 is much more XP then Vista trust me, well it runs like XP but with the eye candy aspect of Vista, I was really impressed with it, cant wait for the retail version to come out.

Was beta test but reverted back to XP solely because there wasnt enough support for drivers and such but I think you will love 7.

I beta tested vista too and said to my uncle "you're seriously going to put this out?" and he was like "I know.. i know.." lol

Is this the point where I admit that I really cant find anything wrong with Vista >_> maybe I just dont use my comp for anything but forum surfing, IM, and FF11 so I dont notice but I dont have any problems with it.
